Black man in front of “Tiny Midget Circus,” Iowa, part of series

This photograph is part of a series of snap shots at a Davenport circus, of which four are in this archive. The photos are all small format snapshots and the circus has highly ornate fronts to exhibits. The photos are torn from an album and black paper adheres to their back corners.

A Black man in a cap and white shirt poses for the photo, leaning in toward the camera. Behind him is a wall of booths with signs advertising “Acrobats” “Singers” “Tiny Midget Circus” and “Clever Performing Midgets” among others. Other Black people are in the background.
