JET magazine, Iowa cultists kidnap Black child, rescued by Anna Mae Weems

Original August 7, 1958 issue of “Jet” magazine featuring featuring an article on a 13-year-old Detroit boy abused by Iowa cultists, saved by Waterloo Iowa NAACP president Anna Mae Weems.

Anna Mae Weems is a leader in Iowa. She has been active in Civil Rights, and was an early advocate for Martin Luther King, jr.; meeting him in Washington D.C. and hosting him in Iowa in 1959. King spoke at the University of Northern Iowa.

Also in this issue of Jet are full-page photos of Dizzy Gillespie, Floyd Patterson with Archie Moore and more. a cover story on tennis champion Althea Gibson. The issue contains 68 pages (including front and back covers),

The 62-year old issue measures 4.125 x 5.875 inches and is in very good + condition; free of any creased, torn or missing pages. There is moderate cover surface dirt and minor crease edge wear to the back cover. All pages remain well intact with the issue’s original staple binding. The cover is clean of any mailing label.
