This is one of the series of eleven books written for “Publications of the Presidents Conference on Home Building and Home Ownership. Final Reports of Committees.”
The findings include facts such as
page 2: “The factors which appear to constitute Negro housing a distinct problem may be listed as follows:
1. The course of selection and segregation which, almost without exception, draws the Negro population into the most deteriorated residence section of the city. This is in part the process of city growth, in part economic growth, in part selection and segregation, and in part racial selection.

6. Objection of white residents to the presence of Negroes in certain areas, as registered in:
a. Clashes,
b. Bombings of property,
c. Intimidation. ”
The chapters include:

Chapter III. Social and Economic Factors in Negro Housing
Chapter VI . Housing Projects for Negroes
Chapter VII. Recommendations.
It is illustrated with photographs of housing and people. The illustrations include pictures that show the poverty in which the residence were living.
