A main feature of this 32 page newspaper “New Left Notes” is the National Convention to be held in Clear Lake Iowa.
Cover of this newspaper has 4 photographs, a demonstration with banner “Students for a democratic society;” a sit-in, integrated, with sign “Sit-in to protest U.W. Cooperation with Selective …..;” a march, integrated, showing a Black woman holding sign sayin “No Rent for Rats!” and a massive crowd of protesters in Italy.
The second page lists the agenda and instructions for the National Convention to be held in Clear Lake Iowa
Page 3 has columns discussing “Working with Liberal Organizations” and “Black Power” That article says that people are trying to define what Black Power is and understanding that this will not be defined as an abstraction but through action. The writers bring up 3 issues. The first is “The question of tactics” in which they claim that these are becoming more “nationalistic and anti-American… Identifying with non-Western countries…. Tactics which blacks may identify with, may leave most white people (including our constituencies) feeling uncomfortable…”
